How our journey began

The Tale of Dustid

Once upon a time, there was a charming chap named Michael working in hospitality. He was quite the social butterfly, befriending many folks over drinks and desserts. But the long, odd hours left little time for keeping in touch or sending birthday wishes.

When Michael left to pursue new adventures, he felt too awkward calling up old pals after ages. He wanted to send a little "hello again" gift but alas - so many had moved away!

A lightbulb went off in Michael's head - what if he could use their phone numbers to send prezzies? He scoured the land but a service for number-to-address gifting couldn't be found. So this clever clogs decided to develop it himself. And thus, Dustid was born!

Dustid for the modern peep

My oh my, how things have changed in the past few decades! People hop from house to house now more than leapfrog. As per the royal Office of Stats, the average British chap or lass has relocated 11 times by age 50. And folks in their 30s have packed boxes 6 to 10 times.

With all the swiping, scamming, and smartphones these days, sharing addresses feels rather personal. Safety and privacy matter more, evidenced by laws like GDPR. This decrees that companies must be upfront about personal data storage and usage, and let people control their details.

Dustid is custom-crafted for modern needs, (GDPR by Design - check out what the Information Commissioner’s Office or ICO says about this here).

Picture this: you meet a lovely potential sweetheart and exchange digits (mobile phone number if you are over a certain age). You both have Dustid and want to send a thoughtful "thank you" gift. On your favourite flower shop's site, you choose a fragrant bouquet and enter their phone number for delivery. Gift giving, done and Dustid!
